Former Rivers State Governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, on Thursday held a private meeting with former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, in Abuja.

The purpose of the closed-door meeting was not immediately made public, but it comes amid increasing political consultations and alliance-building ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development also follows the submission and upload of the names of ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Amaechi, on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal in preparation for the polls.

Amaechi was recently unveiled as the ADC’s vice-presidential candidate, completing the party’s presidential ticket for the 2027 elections.

The meeting took place shortly after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja confirmed former Senate President David Mark as the National Chairman of the ADC.

Although the outcome of the Amaechi-Tambuwal talks remained undisclosed at press time, political observers see the meeting as part of ongoing strategic engagements within the party ahead of the next general election.
