2027 Elections: Gen Musa Predicts APC Victory in Kaduna, Tinubu Presidency

ABUJA — Defence Minister Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.) has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress will emerge victorious in the 2027 elections.

Musa said the APC would not only retain the Presidency but would also secure the Kaduna governorship and other elective positions in the state.

He spoke on Thursday while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, shortly after Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, and his running mate, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, warned supporters against attempts to manipulate the 2027 elections.

Obi said voters would defend their ballots against any attempt to subvert their choices at polling units. Kwankwaso, meanwhile, maintained that the APC could lose the presidential election despite controlling more than 30 states, pointing to the 2015 defeat of then-President Goodluck Jonathan.

Musa dismissed suggestions that dissatisfaction with the Tinubu administration could result in an electoral backlash against the APC in Kaduna and other parts of the North.

“That’s a perception. It’s a perception, and I mean, everybody has his own perception to deal with. People will always have the good, the bad, and the ugly,” he said.

The minister was then asked directly whether the APC could lose Kaduna State in 2027.

“I cannot say cannot lose. APC will win in Kaduna. That I know,” Musa replied.

Asked if he was also predicting victory for the APC in the governorship race, he said: “Definitely. Presidential, governorship, and all levels.”

Musa also pushed back against claims of increasing opposition to the APC and Tinubu in the North, saying some people were using public dissatisfaction to stir up sentiments against the ruling party.

“That’s why I said there are some people, because probably they are not where they think they are, the tendency is they want to whip up sentiments. APC is this, APC is that,” he said.

The minister, who hails from the North, went on to defend the policies introduced by the Tinubu administration.

According to him, the President has taken difficult decisions that may not produce immediate results but would eventually begin to have a positive impact.

Musa appealed to Nigerians to give the administration time, maintaining that the effects of some of its reforms would become increasingly visible as time goes on.
