Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has called on citizens to remain calm regarding his re-election in 2027, stressing that political power is determined by divine will.

The governor made the remarks at the Unity Chapel, Government House in Umuahia, where he dismissed fears about political uncertainty and a possible return to past governance challenges.

“I would like to assure the people that are here, that nobody should panic,” Otti said.

“Power belongs to God, so He gives it to who He wills. Ten million people cannot move a needle if God wants to go in a particular direction.”

He continued: “Ten million people can also not help anyone that God has not chosen to help… people should not panic. And in any case… this is a divine mission.”

While expressing confidence, Otti admitted that difficulties may still occur, noting that challenges could arise from different directions.

In his homily, Pastor Kennedy Iheoma of the Seventh-day Adventist Church highlighted that a person on a divine mission cannot be hindered by opposition.

Drawing from Acts 28:1–6, he said even a poisonous snake could not stop Apostle Paul, reinforcing his message that divine purpose overrides adversity.

He further described Otti’s leadership as focused on transformation rather than personal gain, stating that it has delivered hope and positive change to many families.

The cleric also advised the governor to stay focused and not be discouraged by challenges along the way.
