EFCC places former PRTT chairman Maina on wanted list over alleged stolen property

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has placed Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), on its wanted list over an alleged case involving receiving stolen property.

The commission made this known in a statement posted on Wednesday, asking members of the public to provide any information that could help locate the former pension task team chairman.

According to the notice, Maina is an indigene of Biu, Borno State. The EFCC urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact any of its designated offices or security agencies.

“Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: info@efcc.gov.ng or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies.”

This is not the first time the EFCC has declared Maina wanted.

In 2015, the anti-graft agency declared him wanted over alleged involvement in a pension biometric contracts case involving Steve Oronsaye, a former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and two others.

The EFCC subsequently said Maina was charged alongside Oronsaye and the others before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a 24-count charge involving alleged procurement fraud and obtaining by false pretence.

In 2019, Maina also faced prosecution by the commission over allegations of pension fraud and money laundering.
