The Kwara State Government described the incident as disturbing, noting that it occurred in a region already grappling with security challenges.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, stated that the explosion happened when a vehicle triggered the device along a road outside the community.

“The IED went off as a vehicle drove over it on Monday morning,” Ajakaye said, clarifying that the blast occurred at a location some distance from Woro.

He revealed that a man in the vehicle died at the scene, while a woman and her child were also caught in the explosion. The woman suffered injuries and is currently responding to treatment, while the child was not harmed.

The development has heightened fear among residents, who say the situation has worsened concerns about safety in the area.
