Focus on Security, Not 2027 Elections — Ndume Reacts to Maiduguri Blasts
Ndume calls on President Tinubu to focus on security and welfare as Maiduguri bombings raise concerns over rising insecurity.
Senator Ali Ndume has called on the Federal Government to put security ahead of politics after the recent bombings in Maiduguri.
Speaking in a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, Ndume urged the government led by Bola Tinubu to concentrate on protecting lives and improving citizens’ welfare.
“The people that will vote are dying,” he said, highlighting the continued violence in the North-East and other regions.
He stressed the need for concrete action rather than statements, noting that many victims of the Ngoshe attack remain unaccounted for.
“A lot of people are still missing from the Ngoshe massacre. Perpetrators of the Maiduguri bombings must be arrested,” Ndume stated.
The lawmaker called for enhanced security operations and intelligence efforts to prevent further attacks.
He also extended condolences to victims and criticised what he described as an insufficient response from the Presidency.
“If President Tinubu can’t visit Borno, he should send Vice President Kashim Shettima,” he added, urging the government to show concern for affected Nigerians.
