Havertz, Musiala Miss Germany’s Nations League Clash With Greece

Germany will be without Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala for Sunday’s Nations League encounter against Greece after both players were ruled out with injuries, the German football federation (DFB) announced on Friday.

Havertz, who plays for Arsenal, picked up what appeared to be a hamstring injury during Germany’s 1-1 draw away to the Netherlands on Thursday and was substituted before half-time.

Following an assessment, the DFB confirmed that the 27-year-old forward had suffered a “muscle strain.” The federation, however, did not say how long Havertz would be sidelined.

Musiala also missed the Netherlands game after sustaining an injury during the warm-up. The 23-year-old Bayern Munich player underwent a scan which showed a muscle tear in his thigh, according to the DFB.

With the two players unavailable, Germany coach Jurgen Klopp has called up Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Burkardt from the second of the two squads initially selected from a 44-man group for the four international matches.

The pair will replace Havertz and Musiala for Germany’s meeting with Greece in Augsburg on Sunday.
