The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has commenced an investigation into allegations of extortion involving its officers along the Lagos-Seme border corridor, as reported on social media.

In response, Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, approved the immediate suspension of the comptrollers supervising the affected areas to ensure a transparent investigation process.

According to a statement signed by Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the Comptroller General condemned the actions captured in the reports, describing them as unacceptable and contrary to the Service’s established values and operational guidelines.

The NIS leadership has also directed a full-scale investigation to uncover all individuals involved, with assurances that disciplinary measures will be swiftly enforced against those found guilty.

The Service reiterated its commitment to maintaining professionalism and efficiency at all border points and entry locations.
