In Defence Of ACP Moses Jolugbo’s Integrity -By Adewole Kehinde

The narrative presented in the Sahara Reporters publication falls short of these standards. ACP Moses Jolugbo remains a professional officer whose conduct continues to reflect the core values of integrity, accountability, and justice. Attempts to malign his character without substantiated evidence should be viewed with the skepticism they deserve.

In recent times, public discourse has increasingly been shaped by sensational headlines that often sacrifice accuracy for attention.

One such instance is the publication by Sahara Reporters titled, “Nigerian Police SIU Officers Accused Of Extorting N5million From Abuja Resident For Bail,” which attempts to cast aspersions on the integrity of officers within the Special Investigation Unit, particularly ACP Moses Jolugbo, through allegations involving one of his personnel, Abiodun Adekunle Fasasi.

It is both necessary and responsible to set the record straight.

ACP Moses Jolugbo is widely regarded as a police officer who embodies integrity, compassion, and a high level of emotional intelligence, qualities that are not only essential in law enforcement but also evident in his day-to-day conduct.

Over the years, he has built a reputation anchored on professionalism and ethical leadership, making it difficult to reconcile the image painted in the said publication with the officer known to colleagues, stakeholders, and members of the public.

The claim that “internal redress proved abortive,” which the report attempts to forcefully associate with ACP Jolugbo, is, at best, a fabrication. Such an assertion lacks factual grounding and appears to be a deliberate attempt to create a narrative of institutional failure where none exists.

In reality, established procedures for addressing complaints within the Nigeria Police Force are clear, structured, and accessible.

Indeed, information at my disposal indicates that ACP Jolugbo had advised that any complainant formally submit a written petition regarding the alleged bribery through the appropriate channel, the office of the Inspector-General of Police, so that the matter could be officially investigated.

To date, no such petition has been received in his office. This fact alone raises serious questions about the credibility of the claims and the motives behind their publication.

Beyond this, ACP Jolugbo’s professional profile speaks volumes. He is known for effective communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and strong decision-making skills, attributes that have consistently guided his handling of sensitive investigations.

His approach to policing is methodical and rooted in due process, ensuring that every case is treated on its merit without prejudice.

Equally important is his well-established reputation for fairness and impartiality. Regardless of the individuals involved in any matter before his office, ACP Jolugbo maintains a balanced and objective stance, guided solely by evidence and the rule of law. This consistency has earned him the respect of both subordinates and superiors, as well as the confidence of the public.

It must also be emphasized that ACP Jolugbo does not condone indiscipline in any form. His track record at the Special Investigation Unit reflects a steadfast commitment to accountability, transparency, and adherence to ethical principles.

At no point has he hidden his dedication to honesty and fairness in the discharge of his duties.

In conclusion, while the media plays a crucial role in holding institutions accountable, that responsibility must be exercised with accuracy, fairness, and verification.
