INEC Announces September 19 Date for Five By-Elections in Four States
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled five by-elections for September 19 in four states, including Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced September 19 as the date for five by-elections to be held across four states of the country.
The affected states are Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta.
INEC’s Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Tunde Oketola, disclosed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
Oketola explained that the elections would cover one federal constituency and four state constituencies.
According to him, the federal by-election will be conducted in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State.
The four state constituency elections will take place in Disina and Sakwa constituencies in Bauchi State, Udu Constituency in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu Constituency in Kano State.
The commission’s announcement sets September 19 as the date for voters in the affected constituencies to elect new representatives.
The scheduled polls form part of INEC’s electoral activities across the affected states.
