Injury Blow as Salah Set to Miss Liverpool’s Trip to Brighton
Mohamed Salah will miss Liverpool’s trip to Brighton after picking up a muscle injury in the Champions League win over Galatasaray.
Mohamed Salah will be unavailable for Liverpool FC’s Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion after suffering a muscle injury, manager Arne Slot confirmed.
The 33-year-old forward picked up the injury during Wednesday’s 4-0 Champions League victory over Galatasaray at Anfield, where he also found the net to help Liverpool advance to the quarter-finals.
Salah had been in fine scoring form, netting in three of his last four matches.
“It’s unusual,” Slot said. “As a result of that I think you can expect the outcome. So, (he’s) not available for tomorrow.”
The Liverpool boss declined to give a clear recovery timeline but expressed hope the international break would aid Salah’s return.
“The good thing for Liverpool and for us is that we go to an international break,” he said.
“The bad thing for Egypt is that he can’t go there.
“We are hoping also with what Mo has shown in the past that he can recover faster than other players might in similar situations because he takes such good care of his body. History has shown that he can be earlier back than some others.
“But it’s only two weeks until we go again so let’s hope in that period of time he can be back.”
Liverpool are currently fifth in the league standings, just two points behind Aston Villa, and remain in contention for Champions League qualification. They will also take on Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on April 4.
