Iran rules out US talks, tells Trump: ‘No talks’ until conditions are met

Iran has ruled out negotiations with the United States despite President Donald Trump’s latest indication that Washington is willing to reopen talks over the Middle East war.

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, issued the rejection on Tuesday, warning against what he described as mixed messages from the US president.

“Don’t get distracted by the U.S. president’s mixed signals — from ‘no negotiations’ to ‘we’re ready to talk’,” Rezaei posted on X.

He added: “The stakes around oil and the straits have changed. Damage control won’t stop what’s coming. No talks until Iran’s conditions are met. Period!”

Trump had said on Monday that he was open to discussions with Iran, a departure from his repeated assertions in recent weeks that it was too early to negotiate a deal to end the war.

“The failing Nation of Iran wants to make a deal, quickly and badly. I will determine whether or not the U.S.A. will choose to engage — The concept of which we are open to,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Tehran has repeatedly demanded war reparations and the removal of sanctions as conditions for ending the war and its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s latest statement therefore appears to close the door, for now, on renewed US-Iran negotiations, unless Washington agrees to the conditions set by Tehran.
