Iran Trade Halted as U.S. Enforces Full Naval Blockade — CENTCOM
CENTCOM confirms U.S. naval blockade has stopped Iran’s seaborne trade within 36 hours, targeting key shipping routes and oil revenue.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has said it has fully enforced a naval blockade on Iran, bringing maritime trade with the country to a complete halt.
CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper announced the development, stating:
“A blockade of Iranian ports has been fully implemented.”
He added that U.S. forces secured control of regional waters and shut down seaborne commerce with Iran within 36 hours.
In a separate update, CENTCOM revealed that guided-missile destroyers of the U.S. Navy are actively enforcing the blockade.
“The blockade is being enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or leaving… ports in Iran,” the command said.
The action comes after Donald Trump ordered a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz following failed negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.
The blockade is intended to restrict Iran’s oil exports and stop it from generating revenue through shipping activities in the key global energy route.
