Israel Conducts Airstrikes in Iran, Targets Missile Sites and Security Infrastructure
The Israeli military targeted rocket production sites, long-range missile launchers, and security headquarters in Iran following the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei.
Israel announced on Monday that its military conducted airstrikes on central Iran, hitting internal security command centres and missile launch sites. The strikes are the first since Mojtaba Khamenei was named the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader.
In a military statement, Israel said:
“The Israeli Air Force… completed an additional wave of strikes on infrastructure across Iran belonging to the Iranian regime.”
Key targets included a rocket engine production facility and several long-range ballistic missile launch sites posing a direct threat to Israel.
The airstrikes also hit internal security headquarters in Isfahan, a police HQ, and other installations used by the Revolutionary Guards and Basij paramilitary forces.
“The Internal Security and Basij forces… constitute a central arm in the repression of the Iranian civilian population and are responsible for the use of brutal and systematic violence against it,” the statement said.
Israel described the operation as aimed at “deepening the damage to the core arrays and foundations of the Iranian regime”.
These are the first strikes publicly announced following Tehran’s appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as supreme leader.
