Labour Party Begins Upload of 2027 Governorship Candidates After Receiving INEC Access Code
The Labour Party has confirmed receiving INEC’s access code to upload its 2027 governorship and State House of Assembly candidates, saying the nomination process is progressing smoothly.
The Labour Party (LP) has announced that it has received the necessary access code from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), enabling it to upload the particulars of its governorship and State House of Assembly candidates for the 2027 elections.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, said the upload exercise started on Saturday and has progressed smoothly.
He disclosed that a significant number of candidates had already been uploaded to the INEC nomination portal, adding that the party is on course to complete the process within the commission’s stipulated timeframe.
“The Labour Party can confirm that INEC has provided the party with the access code required to upload its governorship and House of Assembly candidates to the INEC nomination portal.
“The upload exercise commenced on Saturday and has been progressing seamlessly. As of this morning, we have uploaded a substantial number,” Asogwa stated.
While confirming the progress made, Asogwa declined to disclose the identities of the candidates or the states involved.
He also explained that the technical issues experienced during the upload of presidential and National Assembly candidates affected several political parties, attributing the challenges to difficulties in harmonising party records with INEC’s database.
“A lot of political parties experienced difficulties during the upload of the particulars of presidential and National Assembly candidates. It was not peculiar to Labour Party, as many parties faced the challenge due to the initial difficulty in harmonising names on parties’ lists with those on the INEC portal,” Asogwa said.
INEC had earlier published the schedule for political parties to submit candidates’ particulars ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Labour Party said it remains committed to complying with INEC’s requirements and ensuring that all candidate details are submitted before the deadline.
