Tottenham’s fight for Premier League survival suffered another setback as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Brighton, leaving them in the relegation zone.

In Roberto De Zerbi’s first home match as manager, Spurs made a bright start and went ahead through Pedro Porro, only for Kaoru Mitoma to equalise with a superb effort just before the interval.

The second half saw chances at both ends, but Tottenham regained the lead in the 77th minute when Xavi Simons produced a fine finish that lifted the home fans.

With victory in sight, Spurs were undone in stoppage time as Georginio Rutter struck to level the score, denying them a first league win since December.

The draw leaves Tottenham 18th in the standings, just one point from safety, with five games left to determine their fate.
