Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has urged the United States to halt further arms supplies to Ukraine, telling US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that continued military support for Kyiv is unacceptable.

The warning came during a meeting between the two diplomats in Manila on Thursday, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said Lavrov “stressed that it was unacceptable to continue supplying weapons to the Kyiv regime.”

Lavrov also criticised European governments, accusing them of prolonging the conflict through continued support for Ukraine.

According to the ministry, he condemned “a destabilising policy by European countries, which are still seeking to inflict a ‘strategic defeat’ on Russia.”

At the same time, the Russian foreign minister maintained that Moscow remains open to negotiations, repeating that Russia is prepared to pursue “a political-diplomatic resolution to the conflict.”

The talks were the first between Lavrov and Rubio since September 2025 and took place as international attention has increasingly shifted from the war in Ukraine to the escalating crisis in the Middle East, where Washington has focused much of its recent diplomatic efforts.
