Manchester United dropped points in their Champions League race after a dramatic 2-2 draw against AFC Bournemouth, with Harry Maguire seeing red late in the game.

United twice went in front during a frantic second half but could not hold on after being reduced to 10 men.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring from the penalty spot following a foul on Matheus Cunha, but Bournemouth hit back quickly as Ryan Christie finished from close range after a swift counter-attack.

An own goal by James Hill restored United’s advantage, yet the turning point came when Maguire was dismissed for pulling back Evanilson inside the box.

Junior Kroupi stepped up to score the penalty and earn a point for Andoni Iraola’s side.

The result keeps United in third place, seven points clear of Chelsea FC, while Bournemouth extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches, though a run of draws leaves them 10th in the table.
