Real Madrid land Carlos Espi from Levante in reported €25m transfer

Real Madrid have strengthened their attacking options by signing Levante striker Carlos Espi for a reported fee of €25 million ($29 million).

The 21-year-old completed his move on Thursday after attracting interest from several Premier League clubs.

In a statement, Real Madrid confirmed that Espi had signed a five-year contract.

“(Espi) will join our club for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2031,” the club said.

Espi impressed in La Liga last season, scoring 11 goals in 25 appearances for Levante, earning recognition as one of Spain’s promising young forwards.

His arrival is expected to pave the way for Gonzalo Garcia’s reported move to Premier League side Fulham.

The signing is Madrid’s fifth acquisition this summer, with Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries already joining the club.

Reports also suggest Los Blancos have reached an agreement with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, while Manchester City midfielder Rodri continues to be linked with a move to the Spanish capital.
