Senator Jibrin Accuses Ododo Camp of Manipulating APC Primary
Kogi East senator Jibrin Isah alleged hijacking of APC primary materials and vowed to contest the governorship against Governor Ahmed Ododo.
Senator Jibrin Isah has openly challenged Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, after losing the APC senatorial primary election for Kogi East, declaring that “the battle line has been drawn.”
Jibrin, who contested alongside six other aspirants for the party’s ticket, alleged widespread irregularities during the primary exercise and accused government agents of hijacking electoral materials.
Reacting after the poll, the senator said he was stunned that only two votes were credited to him in his own ward.
He explained that when he arrived to vote, no electoral officers or materials were available at the venue, adding that the same situation was reported in several wards across Kogi East.
According to him, the failure to deploy officials and materials prevented party members from participating in the election process in many areas.
Jibrin insisted the development was aimed at undermining his support base and influencing the outcome of the primary.
The lawmaker also maintained that his track record and constituency projects had strengthened the APC in Kogi East and would help the party secure support for its candidates, including the President.
He said he had consistently remained loyal to Governor Ododo and the APC leadership but questioned why he was allegedly being sidelined despite his commitment to the party.
The senator claimed that the governor acted against him after being told he intended to contest the governorship election in the future.
“Well, with the latest development, I will now contest for the governorship position against Governor Ododo when the time comes,” he declared.
Jibrin urged the APC leadership to investigate the alleged hijacking of voting materials and ensure transparency and fairness in future party primaries.
