The North needs peace, security, and justice. Let’s break the silence and stand together against these brutal acts by defeating the internal war we are having within ourselves. Let’s unite and be our brothers keeper, the current situation favors no party, ethnic nor religion but humanity it self. The North entirely is traumatized by the so called act of banditry and kidnapping.

Banditry and kidnapping was at first a story we heard from other parts of the world, we felt sorrowful and lament for those affected. As time goes on it began to pierce into Nigeria. The Northern part of Nigeria has been facing different difficulties in terms of insecurity, different groups of perpetrators carrying out their heinous acts confidently, but what is done to make sure that this brutal act have been stopped? Only for the government to keep on giving hope with response such as; “military operations ongoing with some successes, calls for stronger collaboration between federal and state governments, Community policing and intelligence gathering initiatives proposed” and so on and so forth. Yet still the citizens are quietly watching what’s happening to their lives and property.

The Northern region is crying out for help. The silence surrounding the brutal acts of banditry, kidnapping, and gun violence piercing villages must be broken. It’s time to shed light on the heinous crimes terrorizing innocent lives leaving trails of death, destruction, and despair.

The Reality is bandits, often well-armed and organized, roam freely, attacking villages, and kidnapping citizens for ransom. Guns blaze, leaving death and destruction in their wake. Families are torn apart, lives lost, and communities shattered. The once-vibrant North is now a hotbed of fear and insecurity while government exist in this particular region.

Reports of villages being raided, farmers killed or abducted, and livestock stolen are common. The economic impact is devastating, with agriculture and trade suffering greatly, social structures crumble as fear takes hold, and communities are displaced.

And the Impact of these heinous act is as far as reaching economic instability growth as the North’s reputation as a thriving region is tarnished, agriculture and trade suffer, social structures crumble as fear takes hold, psychological trauma affects survivors and communities especially the up coming children, thousands forced to flee homes, seeking refuge in IDP camps, food shortages and rising hunger due to abandoned farmlands, which will definitely lead to economic hardship and lack of trust between the governed and the government.

The root causes are always claimed to be poverty and unemployment that fuel recruitment into armed groups, weak security structures and porous borders enabling banditry, competition for resources like land and water which exacerbates tensions.
We must speak out against these atrocities, demand action from leaders and authorities, support affected communities and victims’ families.

What Can Be Done? Firstly, we the citizens have to face our fear, report incidents to authorities and support investigations, raise awareness about the crisis through social media and community engagement, advocate for peace and security in the North, support initiatives providing aid to affected communities irrespective of ethnic group or religion.

It’s time for collective action: Community leaders should speak out and mobilize support in anyway responsible, the citizens most especially the youths and our parents at home should focus on free and fair election, in no circumstance should any candidate acquire your votes during election by disrespecting you with things like Maggi, Motorcycles, Spaghetti and the likes of them, you only see that when its time for election and after election they remain silent. Are they only suppose to know you during election? And then lastly, the government should equip the authorities and the authorities should take decisive action against perpetrators.

Together, we can restore peace and security to the North.
