US military says Iranian attack on warships prompted retaliatory strikes
US forces said they eliminated inbound threats and targeted Iranian military facilities responsible for the attack on American warships.
The United States military said it struck Iranian military facilities on Thursday after Iranian forces reportedly attacked three American destroyers transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
US Central Command disclosed that Tehran’s forces used “multiple missiles, drones and small boats” in the attempted attack on the warships.
Despite the assault, the US military confirmed that none of the American destroyers sustained damage.
In a statement shared on X, Central Command said US troops “eliminated inbound threats and targeted Iranian military facilities responsible” for the incident.
The exchange highlights rising tensions between Washington and Tehran in one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.
