A Tribute to Charismatic Prince Yariman Bauchi -By Ahmed Ghani Hassan

Yariman Bauchi’s contribution to his Family and other people was superb. He was recognized as the pillar of the Family who shouldered their affairs as his own. Service to humanity is service to Allah. Baba Yarima embraced and involved himself in every activity of the Family (Baya Goya Marayu). As a great farmer, He used to distribute more than half of his grains to friends and family during Ramadan.

Prince Yariman Bauchi

The Bauchi Prince has fallen. Banu Yakubu lost a great pillar who dedicated his life to developing the Bauchi emirate and the traditional institution at large. The Bauchi State Government lost a dedicated public servant who rose to the position of Permanent Secretary. He had a record of good work and experience and was rated a technocrat par excellence.

Yariman Bauchi, who hails from the Abdullahi ruling house, passed on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, after a protracted illness. Alh. Abubakar Garba Sambo, who held the traditional title of Yariman Bauchi and was District Head of Pali. His death created a great vacuum that will be very difficult to fill.

Yariman Bauchi was a son of Mallam Sambo. Mallam Sambo, a son of Tafida Mahmood, popularly known as Tafida Mallam. Tafida Mahmood, the son of Tafida Yakubu, known as (Tafida Abba). Tafida Abba, the son of Abdullahi Dan Mallam Yakubu.

Yariman Bauchi became a notable figure after the death of the late Emir Mallam Adamu Jumba. The young Prince was among the three selected for the succession to the throne after a hot contest. The Government of Tatari Ali appointed his cousin to be the 10th Emir of Bauchi. Three months later, The late Emir Dr. Suleman Adamu turbaned him as Yariman Bauchi.

After the resignation of the former Grand Khadi, the seat of District Head of Pali became vacant, and he was appointed to fill it.

During his reign as District Head of Pali, Alkaleri Local Government developed in terms of socio-economic progress, and many development projects were achieved.

His tireless efforts granted Alkaleri Local Government protection from land intrusion by other States. His ambition was always to make the Bauchi Emirate develop and excel beyond other Emirates. That is why he strove to pursue the actualization of the oil discovered in his district, Pali. Alkaleri Local Government became one of the most peaceful areas during his reign, particularly in his Pali District.

Yariman Bauchi’s contributions to the traditional institution were obvious to everyone in Bauchi during Sallah Festivals. He will always be remembered because the people of Bauchi will miss his Hawan Sallah . For over 40 years, Yariman Bauchi never missed Hawan Sallah even once. When Yariman Bauchi came with his entourage, men and women bowed to greet him. Young Boys and Girls used to sing a song
