Adeleke Declares Work-Free Day to Boost PVC Collection Ahead of Osun Governorship Election

Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as a public holiday in Osun State to allow civil servants and other public workers to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the exercise closes.

In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the work-free day was granted to encourage eligible voters in the public service to participate in the electoral process ahead of the state’s governorship election.

The statement noted that the directive was communicated through an official circular to the public service, explaining that the holiday would enable workers to fulfil their civic obligation ahead of the upcoming governorship poll and future elections.

Essential workers, including medical personnel and security officers, were advised to make appropriate internal arrangements to ensure that critical services remain uninterrupted.

Governor Adeleke also appealed to public servants and those in the informal sector to take advantage of the opportunity to collect their PVCs, describing the forthcoming election as significant to the future of the state.

“I encourage all registered voters to reach all the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter’s card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, to the ballot box,” the statement said.
