The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says a total of 10,188,755 Nigerians have successfully completed the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise conducted in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

The electoral body disclosed that 3,867,997 eligible voters completed registration during Phase III, Week Eleven, which ended on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Combined with the 2,572,054 registrations recorded during Phase I and the 3,748,704 completed in Phase II, the total number of fresh registrants now stands at over 10.18 million.

INEC noted that although Nigeria currently has more than 93 million registered voters, the latest registrations will first undergo a de-duplication exercise to remove multiple entries before they are officially added to the National Register of Voters.

According to an infographic released by the commission on Wednesday night, 2,697,863 people completed registration through physical centres, while 1,170,134 used the online platform before completing the mandatory physical verification process. This means almost 70 per cent of registrants opted for physical registration.

Kano State recorded the highest number of completed registrations with 330,906, followed by Lagos with 181,254 and Delta with 166,895. Edo registered 156,150 voters, while Sokoto recorded 145,160.

Other states with strong registration numbers were Ebonyi (146,507), Taraba (141,649), Ogun (136,921), Bauchi (128,753), Jigawa (125,155), and Oyo (125,144).

Meanwhile, Ekiti posted the lowest figure with 2,276 completed registrations. Ondo recorded 23,824, Plateau registered 41,993, while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had 56,285 completed registrations.

INEC also explained that Osun State recorded no registrations because the CVR exercise was suspended ahead of the state’s governorship election, in compliance with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022.

According to the commission, the figures represent completed online and physical registrations across the country as it works to broaden voter participation before the 2027 general elections.
