Aregbesola Says He Lived in Friend’s House Throughout Eight-Year Tenure as Osun Governor
Former Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola says he lived in a friend’s house throughout his eight-year tenure and challenged critics to prove he owned a house.
National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has claimed that he did not own a private residence while serving as governor of Osun State between 2010 and 2018.
Speaking in a video shared online on Thursday, Aregbesola said he spent his entire period in office living in a friend’s house in the Amuta area of Ilesa.
The former governor challenged anyone disputing his claim to present evidence that he owned a house during his administration.
“I’m the first governor in Nigeria to govern a state for eight years without owning a house of my own. I stayed in my friend’s house for eight years as governor in my fatherland. Whoever says what I’m saying is not true should come out and show me the house I own,” Aregbesola stated.
After completing his two terms as Osun governor, Aregbesola served as Minister of Interior under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former governor is now spearheading the ADC’s governorship campaign in Osun State after the party officially flagged off its campaign in Ile-Ife earlier this week.
