Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has shed light on his recent private meeting with Peter Obi, highlighting that their talks centered on national priorities such as economic recovery and the welfare of Nigerians.

Mohammed disclosed this in a post on X on Thursday, noting that he received Obi at the Government House in Bauchi and describing the interaction as coming at a crucial time.

“Today, I received the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate and a chieftain of the ADC, Mr. Peter Obi, at the Government House in Bauchi. Our discussions centered on critical national issues, including economic recovery and the welfare of our citizens,” he said.

According to the governor, the meeting also allowed both leaders to assess the country’s political environment and highlight the need for stronger institutions.

“We also took time to review the evolving political landscape and emphasized the urgent need to strengthen our democratic institutions,” he added.

Mohammed praised Obi’s visit, stressing that continued dialogue among political figures is essential to solving national problems.

“I commended him for the visit, as engagements of this nature foster mutual understanding and help drive practical, people-focused solutions,” he said.

He added that both leaders agreed on the importance of putting national interest above politics.

“We jointly urged all stakeholders to rise above partisanship and place the national interest at the forefront of all decisions,” Mohammed stated.

The development comes as political alignments continue to shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.
