Desmond Elliot Seeks Forgiveness From Gbajabiamila, Wants APC Reintegration
Desmond Elliot has knelt before Femi Gbajabiamila, apologised over his actions during the APC primary and sought a return to the party’s fold.
Lagos lawmaker Desmond Elliot has pleaded with Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, for forgiveness following the dispute that trailed the last APC primary election in Lagos.
In a video circulating on social media, Elliot is seen on his knees before Gbajabiamila, apologising for his actions and appealing for a return to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) fold in Lagos.
“I’m sorry, I have no excuse, I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry and I am hoping to be cultured in the future,” Elliot said.
The development comes after a disagreement between Elliot and the APC leadership over the party’s May primary for the Surulere Constituency I seat.
Elliot had pulled out of the primary, alleging that his supporters were subjected to intimidation and political pressure.
Following his withdrawal, he rejected the result and said he would pursue his grievances through the party’s appeal mechanism.
He later lost the APC ticket to Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who was believed to have the backing of Gbajabiamila.
Odunuga-Bakare won the primary with 11,385 votes, while Elliot polled 270 votes.
