The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani was honoured as Patron of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) because of his strong commitment to communication and responsive governance.

Idris spoke on Tuesday during the governor’s investiture ceremony in Kaduna, held at the Brigadier General Abba Kyari Banquet Hall.

He highlighted that Kaduna State’s Ministry of Information was restored in 2025 after it had earlier been scrapped, noting that Governor Sani acted immediately on advice.

“In December 2024, the Governor attended the National Council on Information and National Orientation meeting where we discussed the absence of a Ministry of Information in Kaduna State. Once advised, he immediately restored it,” Idris said.

He added that the governor’s openness to communication reforms and willingness to engage public relations institutions made him a natural choice for the honour.

The minister also noted that Sani agreed without hesitation to host the 2026 Nigerian Public Relations Week, which will focus on “Nigeria’s Food Security: From Policy Paper to Public Plates – The Imperatives of Public Relations.”

Governor Sani, speaking at the event, said the theme reflects his administration’s focus on agriculture and the need to ensure policies translate into tangible results for citizens.

“Policies succeed not only because they are well designed, but because they are understood, trusted, and embraced by the people they are meant to serve,” he said.

He revealed that Kaduna’s agricultural budget rose significantly from ₦1.48 billion in 2023 to ₦74.02 billion in 2025 and ₦108 billion in 2026.

According to him, more than 120,000 farmers have benefited from government support programmes, including inputs and mechanisation.

He also disclosed the distribution of over 900 trucks of fertiliser, about 540,000 bags, and the deployment of over 10,000 solar-powered water pumps to boost farming productivity.

Sani said his administration remains focused on inclusive, productivity-driven agriculture to strengthen food security in Kaduna State.
