The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has disowned reported admissions into the Law Faculty of Lead City University, warning candidates that the offers are not recognised by the Board.

JAMB made the clarification in a statement issued by its Public Communications Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, following complaints about the alleged admissions.

The Board explained that the admissions were not processed through its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), which remains the official platform for admission processing into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

“The Board states that the reported admissions were not conducted through CAPS. Consequently, such admissions are not recognised by the Board,” the statement said.

JAMB also pointed out that the Law programme at the university is currently under a five-year suspension, adding that institutions are required to comply strictly with admission regulations during such periods.

The Board advised prospective students to ensure their admissions are processed through CAPS in order to avoid problems.

“This development highlights the importance of following official admission procedures. Candidates are advised not to accept admission offers that are not processed through CAPS,” the Board stated.

It warned that candidates who accept such offers risk encountering challenges with documentation and official recognition of their admission.

JAMB further said it was aware that some institutions attempt to correct irregular admissions through inter-university transfers but emphasised that such transfers would only be considered valid if the student had been admitted through CAPS initially.

“For a transfer to be valid, the candidate must have been properly admitted in the first instance,” the Board added.

The Board reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency in Nigeria’s admission process and encouraged students to pursue admission through approved channels, including the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
