Arsenal Chase EPL Top Spot as Tottenham Face Relegation Pressure in Season Run-In

Arsenal and Manchester City level on points in EPL title race as Tottenham face relegation fears and West Ham fight for survival.

Arsenal remain in contention to reclaim the Premier League summit this weekend as Manchester City temporarily shift attention to the FA Cup, while Tottenham and West Ham face intense pressure in the relegation battle.

The title race has tightened dramatically, with Arsenal’s once nine-point lead erased. Both Arsenal and City now sit level on 70 points, though City lead the table on goals scored.

With five games left, only goal difference and goals scored separate the sides. City have netted three more goals than Arsenal and remain unbeaten in similar title-position scenarios late in the season.

Arsenal, however, can move back to the top with a win or draw against Newcastle at the Emirates. City will be occupied with an FA Cup semi-final against Southampton.

Depending on results, Arsenal could open a three- to six-point cushion before City return to league action against Everton.

Despite recent setbacks, including a 2-1 loss at the Etihad, Arteta’s side still have a manageable fixture list and a chance to apply pressure on the champions.

City, currently leading the table for the first time since August, remain favourites but cannot afford further slip-ups.

Tottenham Fight to Avoid Drop

Tottenham’s survival hopes hang in the balance as they travel to already-relegated Wolves, needing a victory to stay in touch with safety.

Under Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs have gone winless in the Premier League since December, with last weekend’s draw against Brighton decided by a late equaliser.

They sit 18th, two points from safety, with only five matches left to escape relegation for the first time in nearly five decades.

The club has moved to address mental resilience issues, advertising for a lead psychologist as De Zerbi attempts to reshape squad mentality.

“I have no time to see negative people, to see sad players or sad assistants,” he said after the Brighton match.

West Ham, placed 17th, host Everton, while Nottingham Forest travel to Sunderland. Leeds, sitting on 40 points, are considered largely safe from danger.

Data from Opta suggests Spurs are the most likely team to be relegated, although a win could revive confidence in the final stretch.

Top-Five Race and Europe Spots

The battle for Champions League qualification has eased, with Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Liverpool well positioned to finish in the top five.

Brighton remain outsiders but are still pushing strongly after a 3-0 win over Chelsea, extending their strong run to six wins in eight matches.

They sit five points behind fifth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand.

There remains a scenario in which sixth place could qualify for the Champions League, depending on European competition outcomes.

For that to happen, Aston Villa would need to win the Europa League while also finishing inside the Premier League top five.
