Chelsea Crisis Deepens After 3-0 Humbling by Brighton

Chelsea’s turbulent season took another turn for the worse on Tuesday after a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, intensifying pressure on manager Liam Rosenior and leaving Champions League qualification hopes hanging by a thread.

Brighton delivered a commanding performance at the Amex Stadium, with Ferdi Kadioglu opening the scoring in the first half before Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck completed the rout after the break.

The loss marked a historic low for Chelsea, who have now suffered five straight league defeats without scoring for the first time since 1912.

In all competitions, the Blues have lost seven of their last eight matches and have managed only one league win in nine outings.

They now sit seventh in the Premier League, seven points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool in the battle for Champions League qualification.

Rosenior, appointed in January after replacing Enzo Maresca, faces mounting scrutiny ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Leeds United, a match that could prove pivotal to his future.

Although the Chelsea boss recently praised the club’s hierarchy, saying the owners had been “magnificent” in their support, pressure is building amid growing fan unrest.

Supporters voiced anger after recent defeats, including a 1-0 loss to Manchester United, with protests directed at ownership group BlueCo and chants of “we want our Chelsea back” heard at Brighton.

The match itself underlined Chelsea’s struggles. Kadioglu struck early after defensive hesitation, while Brighton dominated possession and chances throughout.

Chelsea failed to produce a single shot in the opening 30 minutes, highlighting their lack of attacking threat.

Hinshelwood’s second-half strike came after a rapid counterattack, before Welbeck added a late third to complete a comprehensive victory.

As the final whistle blew, Chelsea were left searching for answers amid one of their most troubling runs in recent history.
