Falconets Thrash England 3-0, Book Place in U-20 Women’s World Cup Quarter-Finals

The Falconets beat England 3-0 to reach the U-20 Women’s World Cup quarter-finals. Nigeria have scored 13 goals in four matches at the tournament.

Nigeria’s Falconets have stormed into the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with a convincing 3-0 triumph over England.

The Nigerian youngsters produced a commanding performance to claim their second victory of the tournament and increase their impressive goals tally to 13 in four matches.

Tosin Rafiu set the tone early, putting Nigeria ahead in the eighth minute.

The Falconets continued to control proceedings and extended their advantage just two minutes after the restart, with Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei making it 2-0.

Mary Mamudu then put the result beyond doubt in the 73rd minute, scoring Nigeria’s third goal to seal a comprehensive win over England.

Captain Christiana Uzoma was equally vital to the victory, producing a crucial save from Rachel Maltby’s first-half penalty to preserve Nigeria’s advantage.

With the result, the Falconets now have two wins, one draw and one defeat from their four matches at the tournament. They have also kept two clean sheets.

Nigeria will face another test in the quarter-finals on September 20, 2026.

The Falconets are set to play either Poland or Colombia at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź in Łódź. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30pm WAT.
