FUOYE VC, Prof Fasina, launches National Recognition Scheme

The Vice Chancellor (VC) Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, has launched the esteemed ‘National Recognition Scheme’, a landmark initiative that honours Nigeria’s illustrious figures by naming prominent buildings and facilities after them.

This was contained in a report by FUOYE’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, posted on the institution’s website.

According to the report, “With the gracious approval of the University Governing Council, the visionary project conceptualised and championed by Professor Fasina reflected FUOYE’s deep commitment to national excellence, institutional heritage, and strategic engagement.

“The implementation, however, was led by the Directorate of Advancement under the leadership of Professor Olubukola Oyawoye and supervised by the university management.

“Foremost figures honoured were President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and several other distinguished Nigerians whose names now graced FUOYE’s academic and administrative landscape.”

As stated in the report, Prof Oyawoye, while addressing newsmen, said “the initiative was more than symbolic as it was a bold affirmation of legacy, excellence and the power of national icons to inspire future generations.”

Oyawoye added that VC Fasina took the laudable step of naming key buildings and facilities of the noble institution after the distinguished personalities for their enormous contributions to national development, unwavering commitment to societal advancement, and sacrificial service to humanity.
