The Nigeria Police Force has refuted claims in a widely circulated social media video alleging a terrorist attack in Abuja, describing the report as fabricated.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, in a statement issued on Friday, dismissed the claim outright.

“The Force states unequivocally that no such incident occurred, and the claims contained in the video are entirely false, misleading, and malicious,” he stated.

He explained that initial investigations revealed the footage was intentionally put together using deceptive clips sourced online to promote a false narrative aimed at creating fear, inciting panic, and eroding trust in the capital’s security framework.

The police also confirmed the arrest of one Pam Joseph in connection with the video.

“The arrest followed credible intelligence and digital forensic investigations linking the suspect to the origin and circulation of the video,” Placid said.

He warned that while freedom of expression is a fundamental right, it does not justify the deliberate spread of misinformation that could threaten public safety and national stability.

The police advised residents to verify all information before sharing and to avoid contributing to the spread of panic-inducing content.

“The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he added.

Reaffirming its stance, the Nigeria Police Force said it remains dedicated to maintaining law and order and will continue to track digital activity, taking decisive action against individuals who disseminate false or misleading information.
