President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, saying “a whole civilization will die tonight” if it fails to meet US demands.

Posting on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump did not provide details but signaled the possibility of devastating military action.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” he wrote.

Previously, Trump had indicated that US forces might strike critical infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, potentially pushing Iran “into the stone age.”

He also imposed a midnight GMT Tuesday deadline for Iran to end its de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil transit route.

Trump had earlier rejected a proposed temporary ceasefire, describing it as insufficient.

Iran, however, has pushed back against US demands, with state media insisting that only a full end to the war — not a ceasefire — would be acceptable.

Even so, Trump suggested there remains a slim chance for a last-minute deal.

“Now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight,” he wrote.

On Monday, Trump said US forces could begin strikes later Tuesday, targeting “every bridge in Iran” and crippling “every power plant,” a move widely viewed by experts as potentially violating international law.

Ongoing airstrikes by US and Israeli forces have continued since February 28, and Iranian officials reported Tuesday that the strategic Kharg Island oil terminal was under attack.
