Kashere is a well-known village in Gombe State, the northeastern region of Nigeria, located in Akko Local Government Area of the State rule by Jukun ethnic group. The village was established under the Pindiga Emirate in the 19th century.

It was known as Kano-Kashere before it was later changed to Kashere town, with ethnic groups like Tangale, Bolawa, and the Jukun living by the popular bridge in along the now Billiri road.

In the year 1974, the british came for a survey and observed there could be an water inundate which as a result, they warned and informed the then-community (the Jukun and other settlers), to migrate to another part of the village, in order to avoid the flood that could endanger their lives and properties.

As a result of that, the king instructed his entire kingdom to relocate because he did not want to fall from a horse while crossing the stream.

However, this event led to a significant change in the village’s dynamics. It can be dated far back before the Islam and Christian religions became rampant. The Islamic religion practice came through Pindiga Emirate (the neighboring village), in 18th century by Kwaninga (a Man who brings Islamic religion practice to the Emirate), with with his followers, including Kakkir, the then Galadima of Kashere.

Meanwhile, Jukun – the rulling ethic group organizes traditional festival at every harvesting season, known as Kantani Cultural Dance Festival (Jabah), where all other ethnic groups attend, and showcases their cultural dance. It takes a month before the festival ends.

The Festival was later transferred to Gwana Local District which up till date their people are practicing traditional worshiping, and later it was changed to TAURA GATARI.

When it comes to the economic activities, Kashere community were mostly focused on fishing along the now TK Market. Due to interaction with other ethnic groups, they expanded to farming and rearing of cattle.

In the year 1960, Mallam Adam Billiri established Kashere primary school, which later in 1982 the secondary school was also established.

In the year 2011, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, a native son of the community got approval to established Federal University of Kashere, which 70% of The community income is coming from the University.

The university also brought a lot of peeps with their diversity from different angle of the country.

The community also got the approval of the construction of Kashere market, police barrack and many more  which bring expansion and development to the community.
