NAF Intensifies Offensive, Kills Terrorists in Sambisa Airstrikes

NAF says airstrikes in Sambisa killed terrorists and destroyed fortified positions following credible intelligence and ISR confirmation.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has dealt a fresh blow to terrorist groups in the North-East, carrying out precision airstrikes that killed several fighters in the Sambisa Forest.

The operation, conducted on Monday by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted the Yuwe axis of the forest following actionable intelligence.

In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the strikes were based on credible intelligence supported by Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), which confirmed terrorist activity within fortified structures and bunkers.

NAF aircraft subsequently engaged the locations using precision munitions, destroying the hideouts, neutralising multiple terrorists and taking out critical logistics infrastructure, with results verified through battle damage assessment.

“The sustained tempo of air operations continues to degrade terrorist networks, leaving the terrorists increasingly exposed and disrupted, with mounting pressure forcing them into desperate and reactive actions,” Ejodame stated.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the military’s determination to sustain the offensive until terrorist elements are fully neutralised.

“We remain committed to the protection of our personnel, the security of our nation, and the safety of all citizens,” he said.

“The NAF will continue to intensify precision engagements across the theatre, maintaining decisive operational pressure while adhering strictly to rules of engagement and minimising civilian harm.”

The latest strike underscores ongoing efforts by the military to weaken insurgent networks and restore stability across Nigeria’s North-East region.
