The Nigeria Police Force is preparing for a leadership change in its public communications unit as Force Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin is expected to leave the position on Friday.

Sources at the Force Headquarters said a senior police officer has been selected to succeed him, although the officer’s identity had not yet been disclosed at the time of filing this report.

According to insiders, Hundeyin has already been briefed about the development and is making arrangements to hand over the role.

By about 8 p.m. on Thursday, he was still discharging his duties as the Force spokesman. An official statement from the office of the Inspector-General of Police is expected on Friday.

Hundeyin assumed the role in September 2025 as a Chief Superintendent of Police, taking over from Olumuyiwa Adejobi after the latter’s promotion to Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Before his appointment at the national headquarters, Hundeyin served as Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, where he became notable for his active engagement with journalists and strong presence on digital platforms.

Security experts note that his communication style and effective use of social media platforms helped improve public interaction with the police and expanded the Force’s digital outreach.

Hundeyin earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Lagos State University and later obtained a master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
