Things Fall Apart in Ondo State as Amotekun Corps Commandant Reveals All Serving Officers Are Contract Staff -By Segun Adebowale

The officers and men of Ondo State Amotekun Corps have lamented that their Commandant, Chief Adetuji Adeleye, is trying all possible means to cover up his criminal activities and the embezzlement of the training allowances of all Ondo State Amotekun Corps personnel. The aggrieved officers of Ondo Amotekun Corps have stated that they carefully reviewed the law that established the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, and nowhere does it refer to them as contract staff; the law only refers to them as officers and operatives.

It is also clear that the Ondo State Commandant is using the Ondo State Amotekun Corps as his personal security guard. The state government needs to intervene in this critical issue. This situation clearly shows that the Ondo State Commandant is no longer aligned with his officers, as he should be fighting for their benefits. However, the opposite is happening. The question to ask is: Who is the Commandant hiding from the Ondo State Government? Why is he blocking the Ondo State officers from receiving letters from the state government? In whose interest is Chief Adetuji Adeleye acting? Clearly, it is for his personal gain.

Yesterday, the aggrieved officers went to the Ondo State Governor’s office to engage in a positive conversation with the governor through the Chief of Staff and also visited the Speaker of the House, as well as the Special Adviser on Security. They were promised that steps would be taken to fix and reform the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, and they were asked to allow some time for the process.

The Commandant has betrayed all the officers of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps by stating that they are contract staff. He has demeaned them in front of the people of Ondo and other security agencies. With such a statement, the effectiveness of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps will be reduced to zero. How do you expect officers, whom you have labeled as contract staff, to continue defending Ondo State with their lives when they know they have nothing to benefit from the state government?

Well, I believe Chief Adetuji Adeleye is speaking for himself, not for the Ondo State Government. I am also pleased to inform you that the Ogun State Amotekun Corps is fully staffed, as well as the Amotekun Corps in Ekiti and Osun.

I urge the Ondo State government to look into the issue of non-appointment letters and confirmation letters, and for Chief Adetuji Adeleye to be replaced for the better progression of both the Ondo State Government and the Ondo State Amotekun Corps.
