President Bola Tinubu has made adjustments to his cabinet, appointing Taiwo Oyedele as the new minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy.

The changes, announced in a memo signed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, see Wale Edun and Ahmed Dangiwa exiting the Federal Executive Council.

Edun has been directed to hand over to Oyedele, who previously served as minister of state in the finance ministry, while Dangiwa is to transfer duties to the minister of state in the Housing and Urban Development Ministry.

Additionally, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named minister-designate for the housing ministry.

The directive states that all transitions must be completed by April 23, 2026.

Akume said the reshuffle is part of efforts to improve governance outcomes and strengthen policy coordination.

“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

He added that the president acted within the powers granted under Sections 147 and 148 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Tinubu also commended the outgoing ministers for their contributions and signalled that further adjustments could follow as part of ongoing efforts to reinvigorate his administration.
