US President Donald Trump has confirmed that two American military pilots were not injured after reports emerged that a US Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz.

The incident, first reported by The New York Times, has raised questions about what happened to the aircraft. Sources familiar with the matter told the newspaper it remains unclear whether the helicopter was shot down, experienced technical difficulties, or encountered another form of operational problem.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday before leaving New York following an NBA Finals appearance, Trump sought to reassure the public about the welfare of those on board.

“The pilots are fine, yeah. Nobody injured,” he said.

The president indicated that the US government would provide more information shortly but stopped short of discussing the possible cause of the incident.

“We are going to issue a report on that tomorrow,” he added.

The reported helicopter mishap occurred near the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically significant waterway that has long been a focal point of regional security concerns and international maritime traffic.

Beyond the aviation incident, Trump said diplomatic efforts in the Middle East were making significant progress. He described ongoing negotiations as being in the “final throes” after Iran and Israel halted a new round of hostilities that risked reigniting the prolonged conflict between the two nations.
