VeryDarkMan: The Man Who Speaks Loud So Nigeria Can Hear -By Mary Ishaya

But there’s a cost. VDM gets threats. He gets sued. He gets dragged for clout-chasing. Mental health experts warn that living online 24/7 with that much hate can break anyone. Yet he keeps posting, often at 2am, with bloodshot eyes and the same energy.

VeryDarkMan

He has no office, no title, and no filter. But when VeryDarkMan presses record, Nigeria pauses. In a country where people are tired of silence, Martins Vincent Otse chose to shout. And the whole country is echoing.
He started small. Phone camera. Bad lighting. Angry rants about fake skincare and scam pastors. The videos were rough, but the message was clear: “Una dey play us.” People shared them because someone was finally saying what everyone was thinking.

By 2026, VDM is not just a content creator. He’s a movement. When a company sells expired drugs, he buys it, tests it on camera, and calls NAFDAC. When a celebrity lies, he pulls up receipts from 2018. When a student can’t pay school fees, he posts the account number and the money comes in.

His style is chaotic but effective. He curses. He insults. He threatens lawsuits. Then in the next video he’s paying a hospital bill or sending food to an orphanage. That contradiction is why people can’t look away. You don’t know if the next video will be war or charity.

The government has tried to silence him. Arrests. Detentions. “Invitations.” Each time, he comes out and posts a longer video. His followers call it “juju.” Critics call it “recklessness.” But the result is the same: the story he talked about doesn’t die.

Brands fear him and need him. One negative review from VDM can crash sales. One positive review can sell out a product in hours. PR companies now monitor his page like it’s the stock market. “If VDM mentions you, you’re either trending or finished,” a Lagos brand manager said.

He’s also become accidental journalism. Traditional media now quote his videos. Politicians respond to his posts. When he called out a road in Benue, the local government patched it in 4 days. “He’s doing the job of 10 institutions,” a commenter wrote.

But there’s a cost. VDM gets threats. He gets sued. He gets dragged for clout-chasing. Mental health experts warn that living online 24/7 with that much hate can break anyone. Yet he keeps posting, often at 2am, with bloodshot eyes and the same energy.

His fans say he represents something deeper: frustration. “We’re tired of waiting for justice,” one follower commented. “VDM is our megaphone.” In a country where due process is slow, his method is fast, messy, and public.
You don’t have to like VeryDarkMan. You might hate his language. You might disagree with his methods. But you cannot ignore the impact. He proved that in 2026, one person with a phone can shake tables. Love him or hate him, VeryDarkMan forced Nigeria to listen. And in a noisy country, being heard is the first step to being changed.
