2027 Elections: Lamido Promises to End APC’s ‘Failures’ in Jigawa
Sule Lamido criticises the APC-led government over healthcare and education challenges, promising accountable leadership if the PDP wins Jigawa in 2027.
Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is prepared to reclaim power in the state in 2027, promising to address what he described as the failures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lamido spoke at the inauguration of the PDP Campaign Council at the party’s state headquarters in Dutse, where he criticised the current administration’s performance in healthcare, education and other essential sectors.
He said the state had experienced setbacks under the APC government and pledged that the PDP would restore effective governance, development, unity and peaceful coexistence.
“Unfortunately, Jigawa State has been taken backwards under the present administration. We are determined to restore the state to its rightful position in governance, development, unity and peaceful coexistence,” he said.
The former governor also highlighted what he described as the growing difficulties residents face in obtaining quality healthcare and education.
“Today, residents are facing serious challenges in accessing quality healthcare. Hospitals lack adequate medical services, education sector continues to deteriorate. Virtually every critical sector is facing serious challenges,” he said.
Lamido argued that the PDP had the personnel and experience needed to tackle the state’s challenges, promising a government built on transparency, accountability and public interest.
“The APC administration has failed the people of Jigawa State. We are determined to establish a transparent, accountable and people-oriented government because the PDP has experienced and competent individuals who understand the responsibilities of leadership and governance,” he stated.
He further pledged that a PDP-led administration would serve all residents without discrimination based on political affiliation.
“Our administration will be for all residents of Jigawa State, regardless of their political affiliations,” Lamido said.
On campaign conduct, Lamido promised that the party would pursue its 2027 ambition through peaceful engagement and mutual respect, rather than intimidation or personal attacks.
“Our campaigns will be conducted peacefully, with respect, unity and mutual understanding, without insults, intimidation or personal attacks. Our primary objective is to restore the dignity of Nigeria and Jigawa State,” he added.
