Singer Ariana Grande has publicly condemned the White House’s use of her song Bye in a video highlighting immigration arrests carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), calling for her music to be removed from the content.

The White House recently shared footage of immigration officers detaining and processing alleged undocumented migrants, pairing the video with a clip from Grande’s hit track and the caption: “Bye-bye… President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history.”

Grande responded directly beneath the post, writing: “Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense.”

Her comment was later removed, but it drew significant public attention and reignited debate over the use of artists’ music in political messaging.

The administration, however, stood by its actions. White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson argued that the criticism was misplaced.

“What’s actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens,” she said.

While the White House subsequently removed the audio from the video, the footage itself remained available on its social media platforms.

Grande is the latest musician to oppose the administration’s use of their songs. In recent years, artists including Sabrina Carpenter, ABBA, Céline Dion and Beyoncé have also objected to having their music associated with political campaigns or government messaging.

The Grammy-winning singer has frequently criticised Trump and his policies, including questioning supporters last year about whether the administration’s policies had improved their lives.
