Pop star Ariana Grande has publicly objected to the White House’s use of her song Bye in a video highlighting immigration arrests, calling on officials to stop associating her music with policies she strongly opposes.

The White House recently posted a video featuring Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers detaining and processing alleged undocumented migrants. The clip used a segment of Grande’s song Bye and carried the message: “Bye-bye… President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history.”

Grande responded directly to the post, writing: “Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense.”

Her comment was later deleted, but not before attracting significant public attention and sparking debate online.

In response, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson defended the administration’s stance on immigration and rejected the singer’s criticism.

“What’s actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens,” Jackson said.

The White House subsequently muted the video’s soundtrack while keeping the footage online.

Grande joins a list of high-profile artists who have challenged the Trump administration over the use of their music. In 2025, Sabrina Carpenter asked that her songs not be used in support of what she described as the president’s “inhumane” agenda, while acts such as ABBA, Céline Dion and Beyoncé have also voiced objections in the past.

The singer has previously been critical of Trump and his policies, including questioning supporters last year about whether the administration had improved their everyday lives.
