AY Speaks on Cardiff Show Disruption, Demands Refund Clarity for Fans
AY explains why his Cardiff show was disrupted by unresolved payment commitments and urges organisers to clarify refunds for disappointed fans.
Nigerian entertainer Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has apologised to fans following the disruption of the Cardiff stop of his “AY Live: Single and Not Searching” UK comedy tour, which left many ticket holders disappointed.
The show was scheduled to hold on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Valegate Retail Park in Cardiff, Wales. However, reports indicated that hours of delays and uncertainty prevented many attendees from seeing any of the advertised performers.
AY addressed the controversy in a statement posted on Instagram on Monday, attributing the disruption to unresolved payment commitments between the organisers and the performers.
He said he and the other comedians on the programme had travelled to Cardiff and reached the venue but could not perform as planned because of the payment dispute.
“My fellow comedians and I travelled to Cardiff to perform and eventually entered the venue. Unfortunately, unresolved payment commitments delayed our appearance, and by the time we arrived at the hall, most of the audience had left,” he said.
The comedian apologised to those affected, admitting that the audience deserved better organisation and communication.
“You deserved a properly organised show and timely information. You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute,” he stated.
AY also asked fans to listen to his explanation of the events before forming opinions, saying he had provided further details in a video.
He called on the organisers and the UK tour management to address the concerns of ticket holders and clarify how refunds would be handled.
“I am calling on the organisers and our UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for ticket holders, including refund information,” he said.
The entertainer assured fans that confirmed information would be communicated through his official channels.
The incident generated complaints on social media, with some reports describing lengthy waits, heated exchanges and the presence of police at the venue.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the organisers had not publicly clarified the circumstances surrounding the disruption or announced any refund arrangements.
