Chelsea vs Tottenham Preview: Form, Injury Updates and Predicted Teams
Chelsea target a third consecutive Premier League win against Tottenham. Check the latest injury news, team updates and possible starting line-ups.
Chelsea welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, looking to build on their recent victories and maintain their position among the Premier League’s top four in a crucial London derby.
The Blues have collected four wins, one draw and two losses from their first seven league fixtures. Consecutive victories over Bournemouth and Everton have strengthened their momentum, with Chelsea thrashing Bournemouth 5-1 before securing a 2-0 win away from home against Everton.
Pedro Neto was the standout performer against Everton, scoring twice as Chelsea recorded their first Premier League clean sheet in 22 matches.
The West London club will now attempt to claim three successive league wins for the first time since February. They also have history within reach, having beaten Tottenham in each of their last six Premier League encounters.
A seventh consecutive league victory over Spurs would set a new club record for Chelsea in the fixture.
Tottenham head into the contest after finally ending a six-match winless start to their league campaign. Their 3-1 triumph over Coventry provided a much-needed boost, with James Maddison, Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies finding the net for Roberto De Zerbi’s team.
It was Tottenham’s fourth Premier League victory in 2026 and their first occasion in 36 top-flight matches scoring more than twice.
Nevertheless, Spurs remain 16th in the table, three points adrift of the top nine. Their challenge will be to carry their improved form into a difficult away fixture against Chelsea.
Tottenham’s record at Stamford Bridge offers little encouragement. They have managed just one win in their last 34 Premier League visits, alongside 11 draws and 24 defeats. Their last victory there was a 3-1 success in the 2017-18 campaign under Mauricio Pochettino.
The visitors also arrive with a poor record in London derbies, having lost their previous six Premier League matches against local rivals.
Chelsea vs Tottenham Team News
Chelsea are expected to be without goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who underwent surgery after suffering a fractured jaw during the Everton match.
Reece James, Jamie Gittens, Pep Chavarria and Emmanuel Emegha are also listed among the injured players. Malo Gusto is available again following his recovery from illness.
Mike Penders is tipped to take over between the posts. The 21-year-old could make history by becoming the youngest goalkeeper to start a Premier League match for Chelsea.
Tottenham will be without Rodrigo Bentancur, who remains suspended and is due to serve the second match of his three-game ban.
The injury list includes Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie, all sidelined with knee problems. Savio is also unavailable due to a muscle injury.
Mykhaylo Mudryk cannot feature against his parent club, Chelsea, while he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.
Tosin Adarabioyo faces a late fitness assessment because of a calf issue. Pedro Porro, Omar Marmoush and Andrew Robertson, however, have been cleared to play.
Predicted Line-ups
Chelsea: Penders; Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill; Neto, Caicedo, Henderson, Hato; Palmer, Rogers; Pedro.
Tottenham Hotspur: Kinsky; Gray, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Robertson; Gallagher, Tonali, Maddison; Kudus and other attacking options to be confirmed.
With Chelsea chasing another milestone against their London rivals and Tottenham seeking to build on their victory over Coventry, Saturday’s encounter presents both sides with an opportunity to strengthen their respective campaigns.
