Ballon d’Or: Yamal Reportedly Books Private Jet to Attend 2026 Awards With Family
Lamine Yamal is reportedly arranging private travel to London for the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony as he targets the prestigious award after finishing second last year.
Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has reportedly arranged a private jet to fly to London for Monday’s 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, choosing to share the occasion with his family and close friends.
The 19-year-old winger is expected to draw significant attention at the event as he seeks to claim the prestigious individual award after finishing runner-up in the previous edition.
Spanish journalist Víctor Navarro reported that Yamal opted to make his own travel arrangements instead of joining Barcelona’s official delegation, allowing those closest to him to accompany him to the ceremony.
The decision reflects his desire to celebrate the occasion with family members and friends who have supported his journey to the top of world football.
Yamal has become one of the most prominent young players in the sport, impressing with his performances for Barcelona and the Spanish national team. His displays have earned him recognition as one of the leading candidates for individual awards.
The upcoming ceremony could mark another milestone in his career, following his success in winning the Kopa Trophy for the best young player at the previous Ballon d’Or event.
However, Yamal narrowly missed out on the main prize at the last ceremony in Paris, finishing second in the voting behind Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé.
Before that event, reports suggested the Barcelona winger had organised a celebration with family and friends because he expected to win the award. Dembélé ultimately took home the honour.
Yamal will now have another chance to challenge for football’s most coveted individual prize, with his performances continuing to place him among the sport’s leading contenders.
