Macron Delays Nigeria, Senegal Trips After Weekend Riots – Presidential Source

French President Emmanuel Macron has postponed his planned visit to Nigeria and Senegal, which was expected to take place later this month, a source from the French presidency said on Friday.

The postponement follows riots that erupted alongside nationwide protests last weekend.

Although the presidential source, who requested anonymity, did not explicitly cite the unrest as the reason for the delay, the source said the trip was focused on a “diplomatic and cooperation agenda”.

Macron’s visit to the Gulf this week, by comparison, focused on securing energy supplies.
